It is April today. No fools to be had in my neck of the woods and no fooling either.

This is the month I turn 30 and start a new decade.

This is the month I end my current job after a year and go into a bit of an unknown/new beginning phase that will last quite a while. New human, new job, new commute? new schedule? What is in store for me? I jump off the dock this month.

This month I will be traveling solo without a kid and without a husband for the first time since spring of 2013.

It will be the longest I’ve been away from my child ever.

It might be too long.

But it means I get to do a lot of ME things. And I get to visit with the lovely Margaret and Jeff and meet a certain Kelly in real life for the first time ever! And edit things and be inspired and sleep in a bed without a snoring mate. And not have to worry about being home by a certain time or nap schedules. I may be feeling very giant, pregnant, and short of breath, but hot diggity… I’ll take it.

April. April is a good month. It’s for realies spring. It is for realies flowers and rain showers and sunny mornings and sunny evenings and a glimpse into what summer life in Seattle is like with the never ending day and the lazy after work evenings in the park.

April is good.

What is this month for you?

  1. Woohoo for birthday month!! April is the best! I’m so glad you have all of these awesome things planned for yourself. It sounds like you are ringing in a new decade in the best possible way!

  2. Yay! So excited to meet you! Just to head of any potential awkward moments: are you a hugger? I am a hugger and will likely hug you upon meeting if you’re cool with that. But I am also very into respecting other people’s personal space and boundaries! Hence, the question. šŸ™‚

  3. April – my birthday, wedding anniversary (26 this year) …. so nice to see you have planned your favorite month activities… I should do to.. šŸ™‚

  4. Wait… is your due date in April?? ALREADY???

April is my last month of my 20s! So… maybe a tattoo? I haven’t decided yet, but it’s a possibility šŸ™‚

        1. It’s kind of awkward because my contract ends and then what do i do? Renew for…. 2 months? No. Might as well stay home and finish my book. LIKE A LADY OF LEISURE.

  5. i turn 30 this month too! i just gave birth to my first baby, a boy, in january. although i enjoyed them, i am truly ready to leave my twenties behind and start fresh with a new decade šŸ™‚

  6. April is also my birthday month! No big life changes over here (30 is awesome, btw – I am turning 32 this time around), but it is the month of motivation from the warmer weather and longer days. That means getting our butts in gear with all the outdoor projects and making our screened-in patio ready for the season (yaaaaay, nights spent with friends and drinks, and lazy afternoons with a book), and fixing up things inside the house that have been languishing on the to-do list since we moved in to our new-old house at the end of LAST April (like, um, replace all the randomly missing screens so we can actually open windows).

  7. April is Autumn. Its uni mid-term break (which sadly does not mean a rest!).
We find out if Husband is off to Sydney for a week in May soon, which dictates whether I get to go and to the Routeburn Track in November without him in return.
LJ turned 2 yesterday. My Dad turns 53 today.
Cooler, still sunshine-filled days, light winds, turning leaves.
Job applications, computer programme installation. A pre-snip appointment at the Vasectomy Clinic (!) – big decision made!
Good luck for your travel. I hope it goes better than your last attempt, and look forward to reading about it šŸ™‚
I came and found you (real you) on Facebook the other day. I contemplated friend requesting you, but thought that would seem a bit odd. Would it?
