This weekend was… amazing. It was family time up the wazzoo, it was a movie date for just Kamel and I, it was a trip to Ikea, it was dinner with Claire and her boyfriend, it was long walks in the neighborhood and exploring the shit out of Seattle. We watched a documentary on HBO called The Dead Mothers Club, we watched Godzilla in the fancy theatre with the recliners and the waitstaff. We played in parks, we had cinnamon rolls and biscuit sandwiches. I did a lot of laundry. It was normal and beautiful and the usual and fantastical.
Every weekend should be 3 days. It’s a crime that they aren’t.
First stop at Ikea….
Who knew that Ikea was heaven for babies?
Let the painting begin!
Indoor play space + breakfast = parenting win.
(Nailed it.)

This week I just want to talk about one place you should absolutely check out: Stuff Mom Never Told You. It’s a podcast/blog/website that has been going on for a while and it’s put on by two women. I never realized how few women run podcasts until I started listening to this one. And! I don’t think I’ve ever heard any radio show ever where it is an all lady cast! They talk about and discuss the best stuff, with real research, and all with a really smart frame of mind. I highly highly recommend. It has made my morning commute rather enjoyable.
If you have any linkage around the internet to share, please do in comments!
First of all, it IS a crime that all weekends are not three days.
Second of all, your family is stupidly adorable.
Third: Love those photos of Gabe in the play kitchen!
Thanks to the pictures, we were there! Love you family
Your weekend sounds absolutely perfect, and now I want some cinammon rolls. You look super cute! I love how you can rock fluffy vests.
One of the big things that I take away from this – you guys are awesome parents. Look at you spending so much (fun) family time together and helping Gabe try all the new things 🙂
I want to hear about Godzilla! Was it awesome?
My weekend was an awesome mix of social events, getting stuff done, and enjoying the weather. We tag teamed a massive apartment clean-up yesterday, and it feels so goooood. And now I’m ready to be super productive during the four day week! (ha, just kidding, i’m going to keep playing on the internet).
Such a beautiful weekend!! I love Gabes widdle smushy face so much I just want to squeeze him!
Also, I have always enjoyed those types of indoor play spaces and would appreciate a grown-up sized space with breakfast and maybe some morning alcohol. Just putting it out there!
I was glued to the #YesAllWomen movement on social media this weekend and I have so so many thoughts and feelings on the topic but the whole thing has left me a bit raw… Oy.
Yay three day weekends!! One of the perks of my job is I work a 4 on 4 off schedule so all my weekends are 4 days. I can’t imagine going back to two days!!
That dark pants + green vest combo is rocking. I can never pull off a baseball hat :-/ I think people are either hat people or sunglasses people and I look great in sunglasses.
Another great women lead podcast (by the same group) is Stuff You Missed In History. So fun!!
Love this! We were also at Ikea this weekend, and I was so grateful to have Monday off!
(Also, where is your vest from? I am seeking either a red or a yellow one, but they are so hard to find. Yours fits the bill perfectly, and I know you are a vest-connoisseur.)
It is Ralph Lauren and I got it for christmas. I suggest Nordstrom. This vest is on sale and I am lusting after it HARD: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/the-north-face-nuptse-down-vest/3701696?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=200&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-browseresults-_-1_1_D
Yay for three day weekends! We get one here this weekend and we are heading away to visit my brother and niece, and friends. Will hopefully be awesome, if the weather participates.
Love your Radian car seat – that purple is awesome.
And your Ikea trip totally makes me want it to come here – I want that table and chair set for LJ.
Mostly – really glad this was a good weekend, after your not-so-great weekend the other week.
I don’t know where you are in Seattle, but the Imagine Children’s Museum in Everett (http://www.imaginecm.org/) is worth checking out. We went there last year with my niece and nephews and all of them enjoyed it.
We need to go go IKEA, I’d like to get some play dishes for the boy so he can bang them up rather than my cake pans. And we need to get some bowls for the husband and me, since we keep breaking them.
Love the ‘ordinary, everyday’ photos of the weekend – I tend to whip the camera out for places/events, even indoor playgyms, but IKEA! the Car! At home building the IKEA things! All such great captures for when Gabe ever wonders what weekends were like with his kick-ass parents when he was small.
Also I am dying over the Unbuttoned-Onesie-As-T-shirt move. Genius.
