Baby Bomb – Gabe @ 2 Weeks

Every once in a while I’ll be posting photos of baby Gabe to mark certain milestones. Today Gabe turns 2 weeks old! Initially after birth he lost about 7% of his body weight (as one does). So, at the 2-week visit the doctor wanted to see improvement. Thankfully Gabe gained over a lb to put him just above 8 lbs! Woo hoo! All of the sore nipples and lost hours to breastfeeding paid off.

Other little milestones: I no longer need to wake him up every 2-3 hours to feed since he is growing like a weed. His head is bigger and he has grown a whole inch! Also – his button fell off (yay!) and it wasn’t nearly as gross as I thought it would be. We are awaiting the final formation of his inny.

He stays awake without having a giant meltdown for much longer now, and is generally a much calmer, alert kiddo than he was a week ago. My biggest source of entertainment is the million faces this baby makes. He is the funniest kid I know.

His skin is peeling from being in the amniotic fluid for a long time. When he was born, the nurses did not believe he was only 2 days late – more like a week plus. (Which goes with my theory that my due date was much earlier than March 6th.) As a self-described “picker” leaving his flaky bits alone has been the hardest part of motherhood to date (not really… ok maybe a little).

And then on Wednesday night this happened (and I died a thousand cute deaths):

My little jelly bean.

All of these are cell phone pictures. Hopefully as he grows so will our ability to take nice photos. But until then! I’ll be soaking up all the cute I can and sharing it with you at the next baby bomb. Kaplow!

  1. He is so sweet. In some photos he looks like a little old man, and in others like a schmurf (Kamel is right!). I am glad he’s putting on weight. And of course he’s wearing hoodies already. 🙂 Wishing you and the baby lots of sleep !

  2. I love the gray number with the black stripes and his little baby hoodie. He totally looks like a tiny old man in the blue shorts pic and they are pulled up a little high to help with the whole image. Too cute.

  3. He might be the cutest baby ever. He might also be giving me crazy baby fever even though there is already one growing in my tummy. Thanks for the dose of cuteness! Also, he looks like Urkel in the cars/blue pants, which could explain his face. 🙂

  4. Keep posting pictures, they are lovely!! Thanks for share Gabe with us!! Love uu guys!! Lots of kisses to Gabe!!

  5. Oh man, dying of the cuteness. Really I just can’t handle it. I am YEARS away from kiddos and you are giving me crazy baby fever. He is adorable!!

  6. Such a little old man in some of those pics. Will be interesting to see who he starts looking like when he loses some of the newborn squishiness. Can you see bits of either you or Kamel in him already? Have you compared baby pics?

    1. Ya know… right now he seems like a pretty solid combo of both of us. Kamel’s nose, maybe my lips? His coloring hasn’t totally come in yet. I’m surprised he is still so white, I expected him to be darker and I expected him to have dark hair, but Kamel was a blondie and I was a strawberry blonde as babies… so it is yet to be seen!
