I’ve been meaning to put these up for a few weeks now, but you know how that is. I’m writing this before 6:00 am because I went to bed at 7:00 pm last night, which didn’t leave me much time to do anything after work but eat and then fall asleep on the couch and then shuffle myself to the bed. I just heard Kamel cracking himself up in the kitchen while fixing me a bowl of (surprisingly delicious) bran flakes.
“What’s going on in there?” I asked.
“This is why I’m not supposed to be up this early!”
“I put a sprinkling of salt on your cereal instead of sugar! It all looks the same!”
A few weeks ago I caught him trying to put powdered sugar instead of flour into a cheese sauce. That would have made a very interesting lasagna.
First date night in 3 months.
My energy level has peaks and valleys. Right now I’m in a valley, but sometimes I’m in a peak. Like the first time we went out on a date since getting pregnant. We couldn’t even do that on our anniversary. Friday after work and I wasn’t at home, flailing on the couch – success.
Speaking of food. Yesterday I read this article on CNN about the top 31 foods everyone should be eating (I guess minus the lean meat and salmon for the veggies of the world). And of course, after googling and searching around CNN this morning I can no longer find the article. Sigh. But I wrote down all of the foods, so if you’re interested I can talk about it at a later time. The good news is Kale was high on the list and it turns out that Kamel and I (when I’m not pregnant and terrified of eating some veggies because of heart burn and horrible gas) eat 15 out of 31 on a regular basis. Eighteen months ago that number would have been close to zero.

From a Lemon to an Orange
I can’t believe in the photo above the baby was just about to turn from a Lemon into an Orange. Today the kiddo is a freaking sweet potato. A lemon to a sweet potato.

The first real day of pregnant fitness happened in September. This was a Sunday. I worked out again on Tuesday and spent the rest of the week being very sore with tummy ligament pain. It didn’t help that the baby was going through some growth stuff and pushing on my stomach muscles the whole time as well. Since then I’ve been on several long walks – something I wouldn’t even dream of attempting a few weeks before – and I have overall more energy and more stamina. I’m operating probably at about 60%, but that’s a hell of a lot better than 30%.

Friday Night Dinner with Claire
Last weekend Claire came down from Seattle for a visit! It was great to finally see her after canceling our concert-palooza in August. We ate food, watched a lot of prison shows on netflix, got our nails done, went for walks, etc. My favorite visits are the kinds where I don’t play tour guide and instead do all the things we would do if she just lived down the street. Happies.
