It’s not so so often that we get to do things for the first time anymore. There are first steps, first words, first kiss, first vacations alone, first apartments and room mates, the list goes on. But! As the list grows, the big momentous firsts become few and far between. Yesterday, though, I got to experience buying my first new car. Meet the jelly bean:
It is a bubble of a go-kart, and it screams Lauren-Mobile. It was delivered to Kamel’s work at 11:15 am yesterday, and I received a flood of photos. I hadn’t even seen the car yet, as it was living in Vallejo (Hi Allison!) before it was ours (Mine. Ours… mostly mine).
With the baby coming I wanted to make sure we got a new, safer car. I couldn’t imagine having a car seat in my little 98 Corolla that mostly feels like a tin can. Good ‘ol Corolla did me right for many years, but it’s time for the jelly bean to take over. Plus! Check out these safety ratings:
I worked late again yesterday so I didn’t step off the train until 7:00 pm. Kamel picked me up in our old car and brought me to his office where the new car was waiting. It’s just so cool to be able to pick out a car and then one day it is yours. It’s just… the coolest thing. The Yaris isn’t a luxury vehicle, and buying a new car isn’t as momentous as having your first kid, but it’s just so damn fun! I’ve never had electric locks or power windows before! And now all I have to do is push a button and the car is locked or unlocked. My friends will be relieved that I no longer have to remind them, like a parrot, to “Lock your doors! Lock your doors! Don’t forget to lock your doors!”
This is me after driving the car home and parking it, adorable little jelly bean that it is, in it’s new parking spot. Success!
